With a background rooted in analytics and a growing passion for creativity, Amelia has built a career that bridges both worlds. Originally from Connecticut, she attended Michigan State University, where she studied economics while also exploring entrepreneurship and leadership.

Her early experiences in the financial services industry exposed her to a range of environments, from startups to Fortune 500 companies. Through internships and rotational programs, she developed a strong analytical foundation while working closely with clients.

Over time, those client-facing experiences began to shape her interests. Amelia found herself increasingly drawn to understanding the “why” behind business decisions - how strategy, communication, and customer needs all come together.

“I became really interested in the ‘why’ behind everything,” Amelia shared. “That’s what drew me toward something more strategic and creative.”

That curiosity led her to explore marketing as a way to combine analytical thinking with creativity and storytelling.

“I realized I wanted something that tied everything together: analytics, creativity, and impact.”

After graduation, she leaned into that interest, gaining hands-on experience in social media and paid search at a beauty marketing startup. The role confirmed what she had been searching for: a career path where she could be both strategic and creative.

As Amelia began looking for her next opportunity, she came across Blend and was later connected with the team through recruiter outreach. What stood out was how naturally the role aligned with her experience and interests.

The opportunity to support American Express within Global Commercial Services felt like a seamless next step, one that allowed her to build on her background while continuing to grow in marketing.

In her current role, Amelia supports marketing efforts across the customer app and site experience, helping personalize offers and improve how customers engage with the platform. The work holds added meaning given her personal connection to small businesses, having grown up around family members in that space.

“I’ve seen firsthand the hard work that comes with small businesses,” she said. “So being able to support them through my work is really meaningful to me.”

From the start, Amelia stepped into a fast-moving environment. Joining a newly formed team, she quickly took on responsibility across multiple marketing channels, an experience that required both adaptability and confidence early on.

Rather than shy away from the challenge, she embraced it.

Amelia’s first year in her role has been defined by growth, both individually and as part of a team building processes from the ground up.

Just a few months into the role, she found herself leading major campaigns while still onboarding. That experience helped her develop a strong sense of ownership and the ability to navigate ambiguity with confidence.

“I was still onboarding and had to lead a huge campaign,” she said. “It pushed me to learn quickly and take initiative.”

Over time, she has contributed to several large-scale initiatives, including launching new digital experiences and supporting major product refreshes. Working across multiple channels, she has played a key role in ensuring campaigns are executed effectively while adapting to an evolving team structure.

Looking back, those early challenges became some of her most valuable learning moments.

“You have to embrace the newness,” Amelia said. “Lean on your team, take initiative, and stay open to learning.”
