Consultant Spotlight – Regan: Writing a New Chapter in Marketing

A Creative Foundation

With a background in creative writing and a natural curiosity for learning, Regan has found a way to blend storytelling with the evolving world of content marketing. Her journey started in Colorado, where she studied Creative Writing at Colorado State University–Pueblo, developing the storytelling skills that would later shape her career.

After graduating, Regan spent five years working in the publishing industry, building her experience in writing and editorial work. While she enjoyed the creative side of the field, she eventually began exploring new ways to apply her skills as opportunities in editorial roles became more limited in her region.

Rather than stepping away from writing entirely, Regan began looking for a path that would still allow her to use storytelling while expanding into new areas. Conversations with friends in marketing, and a growing interest in how brands communicate with audiences, led her to explore content marketing.

“I really love writing copy and communicating with people,” Regan shared. “Marketing felt like a place where I could still use those creative skills.”

With a few marketing courses and a willingness to learn, what started as a pivot soon became a new direction, one that would ultimately lead her to Blend and the opportunity to support ASME.

Blending Opportunity and Support

Like many professionals navigating a career transition, Regan spent months searching for the right opportunity. After leaving a difficult work environment, she poured her time into sending out resumes, writing cover letters, and speaking with recruiters, determined to find a role where she could grow and apply her skills in a new way.

Her search eventually led her to Blend. Intrigued by the company and its work, she decided to reach out.

From the beginning, the experience stood out. Throughout the interview process and onboarding, Regan connected with several members of the Blend team, including Jenny, who quickly became a key source of support. As Regan navigated into a new industry and her first consulting role, Jenny’s consistent check-ins and encouragement helped make the transition feel far less daunting.

“It’s been really cool,” Regan shared. “Jenny has been great at checking in and asking if I need anything. I’ve felt a lot of care and support, which has been really refreshing.”

Through Blend, Regan began supporting ASME, where she quickly stepped into a dynamic role across multiple marketing initiatives. Her work includes writing promotional emails, ad copy, and campaign messaging, supporting journal promotion efforts with the R&D team, and developing landing pages through Kentico.

Much of her work involves collaborating with teams across the organization, from designers to marketing strategists, helping ensure campaigns are cohesive and aligned with their audiences. Along the way, she’s gained valuable exposure to how different teams operate, working with both the B2C and R&D groups and seeing firsthand how strategy, creativity, and data come together to shape marketing efforts.

“I’ve been learning so much from my coworkers,” Regan said. “Not just new skill sets, but also how different teams approach things and how the strategy comes together.”

That experience has helped Regan deepen her understanding of marketing while continuing to build on the storytelling skills that first drew her to the field. Surrounded by collaborative teams and supported by Blend, she’s been able to grow her confidence while making meaningful contributions to ASME’s marketing efforts.

Collaboration in Action

One project, Regan looks back on with pride, involved a holiday learning and development promotion campaign. The project required updating previous campaign assets, coordinating messaging, and working with multiple departments to bring the promotion to life.

As the campaign approached its launch deadline, the design team decided to revisit the visual assets. What could have been a stressful moment turned into an opportunity for collaboration.

The teams worked together quickly to refine the creative direction, ensuring everything aligned before the final submission. The result was a campaign that not only launched successfully but also performed well with strong engagement and promo code usage.

For Regan, the experience reinforced something she values deeply about her work: teamwork.

“I really love collaborating with people and combining strengths rather than doing everything alone,” she said.

Finding Confidence in Consulting

Before joining Blend, Regan had primarily worked in traditional full-time roles, so stepping into consulting initially felt unfamiliar.

Like many professionals considering consulting for the first time, she wondered about the stability and uncertainty that can sometimes come with contract roles. But her experience working with Blend quickly changed that perspective.

Having a supportive team behind her made a significant difference. Whether checking in about her experience or offering guidance along the way, the Blend team helped ensure she felt supported as she navigated a new career path.

A Leader Close to Home

When thinking about the people who inspire her most, Regan points to someone close to home - her mom.

A community banker for nearly two decades, her mother has built a reputation for supporting local businesses and leading her team with empathy and understanding. Watching her approach leadership with patience and compassion has had a lasting impact on Regan.

“She always empowers people to do their best,” Regan shared. “She makes people feel comfortable learning and growing.”

That approach to leadership, encouraging collaboration and creating space for growth, is something Regan hopes to carry forward in her own career.

Creativity Beyond the Day Job

Outside of marketing, Regan stays connected to her creative roots and her local community.

Living in Colorado, she spends plenty of time outdoors hiking local trails and enjoying the natural beauty of the area. She’s also active in the creative scene, attending and hosting open mic events and organizing community fundraisers.

Writing continues to be a major part of her life as well. Regan is currently preparing to release her first poetry chapbook, which she plans to self-publish later this year.

And when she’s looking to unwind, she embraces her “uber nerd” side by playing Dungeons & Dragons with friends.

Writing the Next Chapter

Although Regan’s career has taken an unexpected turn from publishing to marketing, the thread connecting both paths is clear: storytelling.

As she continues to grow in the marketing field, Regan hopes to keep combining creativity, communication, and strategy, finding ways to bring meaningful stories to audiences in new ways.

“I’ve definitely caught the marketing bug,” she said. “But storytelling will always be at the center of what I love to do.”
