Consultant Spotlight – Chloe: Crafting Card Member Moments, Chasing Big Dreams

From Small-Town Roots to Center-Stage Experiences

For Chloe, career and identity have always been shaped by curiosity, courage, and a willingness to leap into the unknown. Raised just outside Richmond, Virginia, she grew up far from the noise of big cities but has always been driven by a desire to explore something larger. After studying sociology and history at the University of Virginia, she set out to make a difference, beginning her career in the nonprofit sector with an LGBTQ organization.

“I really loved the mission-driven work,” she recalls, “but I found myself craving more structure early in my career, and more in-person connection.” Working fully remote in her first job left her wanting a clearer path, more stability, and the kind of collaborative environment that could accelerate her growth.

That’s when a blind job posting changed everything. She applied on a whim, only to discover during her second-round interview that the role was with American Express. “It was very exciting,” she laughs. “I had no idea I had just taken the first step toward what would become my career foundation.”

Soon after, Chloe moved to New York City to start her new chapter - a leap that transformed both her personal and professional life. “It was a huge shift from the middle-of-nowhere Virginia,” she says, “but one of the most exciting decisions I’ve ever made.”

Crafting Customer Moments

Chloe began her American Express career as a Marketing Execution Analyst supporting U.S. Consumer Loyalty Benefit Awareness. In that role, she managed the end-to-end approval, testing, and execution of email, app, website, and paid media campaigns for lending treatments - including Pay Over Time messaging, early tenure programs, and Plan It placements.

“The processes were incredibly detailed,” she says. “I touched so many components that helped card members understand the products available to them.”

After a year, an opportunity emerged to join the Global Advertising, Brand & Marketing (GABM) team on a second contract, this time supporting Premium Events & Experiences. It was a chance to bring her operational precision to a completely different corner of the business.

Today, Chloe manages the end-to-end execution of creative placements, ticketing pages, talent vetting, influencer selection, brand approvals, and all marketing metrics for more than 100 premium events a year. These experiences are exclusively designed for Platinum and Centurion card members, spanning fashion, sports, dining, and entertainment.

A Career Highlight Made of Speed, Stars, and Childhood Dreams

One moment stands out above all others: the F1 movie premiere activation.

A lifelong F1 fan, Chloe was entrusted with a stretch assignment helping design the event space and determining card member access on the red carpet. “It was truly a dream,” she shares.

She worked the red carpet, guiding card members as they took photos with current and former drivers. A full Formula 1 race car was flown in and displayed for guests. “Getting to see something I normally work on behind the scenes unfold in person (on that scale) was unbelievable,” she says. “It’s one of the highlights of my career. Honestly, maybe even my life.”

Her passion for the sport runs deep, rooted in the science, engineering, and innovation behind it. “I always loved physics but wasn’t great at math,” she jokes. “So watching people far smarter than me build these incredible machines is endlessly fascinating.”

Why American Express? A Culture of Care, Craft, and Card Members

What keeps Chloe energized is seeing American Express’ values in action, particularly the commitment to doing things the right way and prioritizing the card member experience.

“In events, you see the tiniest details matter,” she says. “There are flip flops under tables in case someone’s heels hurt. Umbrellas for unexpected weather. Custom-designed laundry bags for overnight events. Things I never would have thought of.”

That level of care is matched by close collaboration across teams. “You truly feel like everyone is working toward the same goal. It’s wonderful.”

Guided by Calm: Her Mentor and Voice of Reason

When challenges arise, Chloe turns to the person who’s been her sounding board throughout her entire life: her dad.

“As cliché as it sounds, he’s the person I call for everything,” she shares. “He’s a business owner, he’s worked in so many fields, and he always gives the calmest, most rational advice. Sometimes I want him to be angry with me,” she laughs. “But he’s always steady. He reminds me that careers evolve and that I don’t have to have everything figured out today.”

His perspective has grounded her through uncertainty and inspired her to stay open to new paths, just like he did when he went from selling hardware to founding a stroller company.

The Road Ahead

In the next five to ten years, Chloe sees herself continuing to build in the events and experiences space, as well as potentially pursuing an MBA.

“I’ve learned so much about fast decision-making, partner management, and high-visibility projects,” she says. “Eventually, I’d love to explore other business units at American Express too: finance, partnerships, and more.”

The best part? She knows American Express supports that kind of exploration. “My director left to get a graduate degree and came back. Seeing that gives me confidence that I can grow and return, too.”

Life Beyond Work and the Path to 26.2

Outside of work, Chloe’s love of sports continues, whether she’s waking up at “truly heinous hours” to watch tennis in Australia or Formula 1 races across dozens of time zones.

New York has brought new passions too, particularly running. She’s currently training for a 2026 New York Marathon charity slot, lifting during the week, running two to three times, and saving her long runs for the weekends, ultimately totaling around 20–30 miles each week.

“It’s a huge commitment,” she admits. “But my friends won’t let me skip a single day, which is probably a good thing.”

A Journey Powered by Curiosity and Courage

From small-town Virginia to the heart of New York City, from nonprofit work to high-stakes global experiences, Chloe’s path is proof that the best careers often begin with unexpected leaps.

Through her work with Blend and American Express, she continues to deliver thoughtfully crafted experiences, always with care, precision, and just the right amount of adventure.
