Consultant Spotlight – Celeste: Finding Home Through Resilience, Reinvention, and Connection

From New Orleans Roots to a Global Career Journey

For Celeste, every chapter of her career has been shaped by adaptability, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to people. From New Orleans to New York, from banking and fintech to international implementations and consulting, her journey has been anything but traditional. Yet through every transition, one thing has remained constant: her passion for helping others succeed.

Born and raised in New Orleans, Celeste describes herself as someone who has always been connected to community, even while navigating life’s unexpected twists and turns. After attending Xavier University of Louisiana and initially pursuing a pre-med track, she made a major shift into education studies before eventually finding her footing in banking and customer service.

“I thought I was going to change the world as a teacher,” she shared. “But in a way, I still became one.”

That realization came early in her career when she was unexpectedly asked to become a department trainer while working in banking. What started as a customer service role quickly evolved into something much larger, opening the door to leadership, training, and eventually implementation work that would take her across the globe.

Building a Career Through Change

Celeste’s professional path has been deeply influenced by moments of challenge and reinvention. After Hurricane Katrina displaced her family and upended life in New Orleans, she relocated to the Washington D.C. area and continued building her career in banking and financial services.

Over the years, she expanded her expertise through implementation and client-facing roles, supporting projects in places like Puerto Rico and Peru while developing a reputation for adaptability and problem-solving.

“That really started the whole explosion of where I am now,” she said.

Along the way, Celeste also navigated deeply personal challenges, including returning home to care for both of her parents during serious illnesses. Those experiences reshaped her perspective and reinforced the importance of resilience, ownership, and community.

“Sometimes life forces you to stop and reevaluate everything,” she reflected. “But every experience teaches you something that helps you grow into the next version of yourself.”

Her career eventually led her to New York, where she worked closely with commercial banking clients and served as a liaison between sales and implementation teams. The role allowed her to combine her technical expertise with the relationship-building skills she had developed throughout her career.

Whether she was navigating high-pressure client implementations, adapting to new industries, or learning entirely new systems on the fly, Celeste consistently leaned into challenges with curiosity and determination.

“If I can survive walking through freezing New York weather carrying lunch for a client just to help make the day run smoother,” she joked, “I can probably handle just about anything.”

The Blend Difference

After years of consulting experiences that often felt unstable or transactional, Celeste says Blend stood out immediately.

For Celeste, that support system has made all the difference.

From regular check-ins with the Blend team to meaningful relationships with fellow consultants, she says the company creates an environment where people feel valued beyond simply filling a role.

“It doesn’t feel rushed or transactional,” she shared. “Blend really takes the time to understand who we are, what we offer, and where we’ll succeed.”

Today, Celeste is supporting a major Visa payment system conversion initiative involving large financial institutions. In her current role, she helps implement upgraded payment systems for banking clients, combining years of fintech experience with her natural ability to guide and support others.

“We’ve jumped in with both feet,” she said. “But the project has been exciting because everyone came in prepared and ready to support one another.”

Recently, Celeste led her first client call on the project, a milestone moment that reinforced both her expertise and confidence.

“I know why I’m here,” she said. “And I know why Blend put me on this project.”

Inspired by Leadership and Lifelong Learning

One of the biggest influences on Celeste’s career has been a former trainer and mentor she met early in her professional journey.

“She always said she was training us for life, not just to answer phone calls,” Celeste recalled.

That philosophy has stayed with her for decades.

From customer service and training to implementation and consulting, Celeste has carried those lessons into every role she’s held: take ownership, continue learning, and invest fully in the people around you.

“You impact not only the clients you work with, but the people around you too,” she said.

That mindset continues to guide her today as she embraces new opportunities, industries, and challenges with openness and confidence.

Turning Life’s Challenges into New Opportunities

As she continues growing her consulting career with Blend, Celeste is focused on doing what she does best: solving problems, building relationships, and helping teams succeed.

After navigating major life transitions, career pivots, and industries ranging from banking to justice tech, she’s learned that growth often happens in the most unexpected moments.

“It feels really good to be back doing what I do,” she said. “And it feels even better to be part of a company that truly values people.”

From New Orleans to New York and everywhere in between, Celeste’s story is a powerful reminder that resilience, adaptability, and community can turn even the most uncertain moments into opportunities for growth.
