BOGOTÁ, COLOMBIA / August 24, 2026 — At 22 years old, Juan Sebastian Tinjaca Mesa became the youngest person in the world to earn AWS's Golden Jacket, a rare distinction awarded to professionals who complete every active AWS certification.
Juan is a client-facing Solutions Architect at Blend, focused on data opportunities. When he joined the Colombia office, onboarding meant earning two foundational AWS certifications right out of the gate, his first real introduction to cloud technology. From there, curiosity took over. As Juan continued earning AWS certifications, he found a clear example close by: his colleague Yidaido Rojas became the first person at Blend Colombia to earn a Golden Jacket.
Not long after, Juan was selected for an AWS-sponsored trip to re:Invent in Las Vegas. Surrounded by AWS's global builder community, something shifted, and he came home with a goal of his own. Juan learned that the youngest Golden Jacket recipient in the world at the time was 24. He was 22, with his 23rd birthday just six months away, and that timeline became his deadline: finish before turning 23.
What followed was months of steady work across every AWS certification, twelve in total, balanced against a busy client-facing role. It wasn't a straight line. Some certifications came quickly. Others demanded long nights and real focus. As his deadline crept closer, Juan locked in and completed four certifications in a single month that June.
"I remember clicking submit on that last exam, and I saw 'Passed,'" Juan said. "I was like, oh my God, did it happen?" Relief hit at once; months of work suddenly confirmed in a single word. He quickly shared the news with Yidaido and the rest of the team. The office rallied around him with congratulations, hugs, and a champagne toast to mark the moment together.
That same camaraderie carries into how Juan talks about Blend. He credits the company, an AWS Premier partner, with helping remove what he calls the "economic barrier" that can keep people from pursuing certifications in the first place. What mattered just as much, he says, was being surrounded by people who kept pushing to learn more: an office where two colleagues had already earned a Golden Jacket before him, where his coworkers were cheering him on, and where Yidaido, in particular, became a trusted resource along the way. His learning isn't finished, either. Snowflake has caught his attention as a possible next area to explore, and from here the options feel limitless.
But what really draws him is mentoring: growing his leadership role within the AWS community and helping the next wave of people find their way into tech. Several coworkers have already reached out, asking how to start their own certification paths. His advice for them is simple: find a reason bigger than the title itself, something that will keep you motivated. His own reason started with the record, being the youngest, but what keeps him going now is different: helping people push past how intimidating technology can feel at first. "I love encouraging people to be part of this revolution," he said.
