Consultant Spotlight – Robin: Bringing It All Together

A Career Built Around People

‍

Long before Robin was bringing brand experiences to life, she had a picture of what her future might look like: an office, a career like her dad’s, and, ideally, a gold telephone.

The telephone is still on her wish list. But the qualities she admired in her father, including his kindness, integrity, and quiet confidence, have stayed with her throughout a career built around relationships.

Robin began on the account side of a small boutique agency, where she discovered her enthusiasm for marketing and branding. She also learned something that would shape every role that followed: helping her clients grow was the best way to grow her own business.

That perspective kept her curious. Rather than focusing on one type of marketing, she wanted to understand what each client needed and bring together the right ideas, channels, and people to make it happen.

From advertising and branding to events and sponsorship activations, the work has taken different forms. The focus has remained consistent.

“My lane was so focused on building my clients’ businesses,” she says.

Today, Robin brings that same approach to her work as a Blend consultant supporting Visa, helping deliver marketing programs and turn ambitious plans into experiences people can see, feel, and participate in.

‍

Finding Her Fit with Blend

Robin’s path to Blend began with a relationship she had built years earlier.

After more than five years at another global financial services company, she stepped away from work in 2020 during a difficult period for her family and the uncertainty of the pandemic. When she began to consider returning, she knew she wanted meaningful work and the flexibility to be present at home.

While taking courses through NYU, Robin reconnected with a former client who needed help with branding, positioning, and social media for a startup. That opportunity introduced her to independent consulting and gave her a way to use her experience on terms that fit her life.

Later, that same connection shared an opportunity with Blend.

As Robin moved through the conversations, the role began to feel like a natural fit. It brought together the client work she loved, the experience she had developed, and the flexibility she was looking for.

‍

‍

Joining Visa also connected Robin with a business she had supported earlier in her agency career. She remembered the intelligence and kindness of the people she had worked with, and she found those same qualities in this new chapter.

The opportunity offered a familiar foundation, with plenty of room to keep learning.

‍

Making the Pieces Come Together

Some of Robin’s proudest work began before all the details were clear.

Early in her career, she joined an agency to focus on direct mail. Within weeks, a new business opportunity arrived that grew into something much larger: a comprehensive rebranding effort involving advertising, public relations, media, events, and more.

Robin brought the different teams together, helped lead the effort, and contributed to winning a client relationship that expanded across several areas of the business.

It became a pattern she would recognize throughout her career. A challenge arrives, the goal is clear, and Robin helps the team figure out how to get there.

That pattern resurfaced at Visa when she joined a major festival activation involving a daytime consumer experience and a private concert for cardholders.

Several teams were working together in new ways, and Robin was still relatively new herself. There were moving pieces to coordinate, relationships to build, and a significant experience to deliver.

Her response was to get involved and start connecting the pieces.

The team brought the program to life in approximately 16 weeks. Robin recalls it being highlighted at a year-end marketing town hall and helping create opportunities for more work with the client.

For her, the satisfaction came from watching a complex effort become something real.

“We know the goal,” she says. “So let’s fill in all the blanks here.”

It is work that draws on her experience while continuing to challenge her. And when she sees guests and consumers enjoying an activation, the purpose behind all the planning becomes especially clear.

“That’s why we’re doing all the work,” she says.

‍

Supported by the People Around Her

For Robin, finding the right consulting opportunity also meant finding the right people.

She credits her early conversations with Lori at Blend, helping her feel confident about the move. What stood out was Lori’s understanding of both the client’s needs and the consultants doing the work, and her attention to building a team that could succeed together.

Robin’s advice to anyone considering consulting is to be thoughtful about the opportunities they choose. The work matters, but so do the relationships, expectations, and support surrounding it.

At Visa, that support included an experienced group of consultants who made an immediate impression.

“I love this crew,” she remembers thinking. “I want more of this.”

She was particularly inspired by the talented women around her, who brought deep experience, strong personalities, and a willingness to help one another.

One of those relationships was with a former Blend consultant who began as Robin’s buddy when she joined Visa and became a mentor, manager, and ongoing collaborator.

Those connections have helped make this chapter meaningful, giving Robin people to learn from and partners who share her investment in the work.

‍

The Example That Still Guides Her

When asked who inspires her most, Robin’s answer is her dad.

A former CFO, he showed her that ambition and humility could exist together. She admired his intelligence and independence, but just as much, she noticed how he treated people.

“He was humble, he was kind, he was smart,” she says.

Robin moved from New York City to Wilton, Connecticut, to be closer to her parents. After her mother passed away in 2020, spending time with her father remained an important part of her life.

Today, she visits about two evenings a week to make dinner and spend time together. When he reminds her that she is busy with work and travel and does not have to come over so often, her answer is simple.

“This is my happy spot,” she tells him. “This is my safe space.”

The person who first helped her imagine a working life is still the person who helps her feel grounded in it.

‍

Room for Creativity and Connection

Outside of work, Robin’s favorite moments tend to involve family, a little creativity, or a good book.

She has four sisters, a husband who also works from home, and a son in his senior year of high school. Exploring colleges together has become the family’s latest project.

She loves walking, visiting the beach and local parks, and trying classes that give her a creative outlet. Watercolor and knitting have both made the list, although a pair of rainbow leg warmers remains a work in progress.

“I will finish them,” she says.

Reading is another constant. Whether she is taking a book to the beach or settling in upstairs on a rainy day, Robin prefers turning actual pages.

Across her career and her life outside of it, Robin keeps making room for the things she values: good people, creative possibilities, and the chance to contribute.

The gold telephone may still be waiting. But the qualities she admired as a little girl are already part of the way she works, leads, and brings people together.
